Big Water Lures finding a home on small water Lakes

I and my fishing partner Jeff were handed some new lures to try. They were Grand Slam Bucktails. They come in the colors of white, black and white, blue and white and green and white. The sizes vary from 4 inches to 6 inches. The Lure is made of "fishair and crystal flash" the epoxy head is even finished with a pair of eyes. The Lure is said to glow in the dark and visibly it does have an iridescent quality to it.
The rigging is easy. I first threaded a 17 lb. test fluorocarbon leader through the bucktail and tied on a 3/0 Siwash hook. The leader length was between 20 and 24 inches long. On the front side of the bucktail I threaded a red bead and then Wiggle fin. The terminal end was finished with a Duoclip that I fixed to my Dodger.
The swim action of this Lure is more than I would have expected. The Bucktail has a true fishlike undulation when trolled at 1.2 to 1.5 mph.
We let out line to around seventy five feet and then sent in down on the downrigger to 40 feet. I turned the boat and we trolled over a point that had a depth of 60 feet. The Mackinaw lit up the screen. They were holding in the forty to sixty foot range. Sure enough Jeff had a fish on. His first words were, "it's a good one". He played the fish like a pro and when it was time he brought it to the net. It was a decent 5 lb. fish. After photos and hook removal Jeff revived the fish and watched it swim for the bottom.
I had two very hard take downs but no hook ups.
I'm a show me kind of guy and this Grand Slam Bucktail has done just that. It's easy to rig, easy to fish, has great action and has eye appeal. The best part is it catches fish and it can be used in the Ocean for Salmon and Stripers or in the Lakes for Rainbow, Brown and Mackinaw Trout.
