Berts Lake

 

Berts Lake is located in El Dorado County in California. The lake sites at an elevation of 6759 feet. You have to hike into Berts Lake, it is a hike in only lake. The trailhead starts at the west side of Loon Lake Chalet parking lot. The trail is only about one mile, and it is a moderately difficult hike. This are is a beautiful area to hike in. It is a moderately tough area to hike in, but the views are magnificent. There are many different open bowls, ridges, and wooded drainages that are surrounded by mountain peaks. The ridges and peaks offer a beautiful panoramic view of Loon Lake, Crystal Basin, and the Crystal Mountain Range.

 

Directions
To reach Loon Lake, travel 20 miles east of Placerville on Highway 50 to the Ice House Road, which is only 8.5 miles from Pollock Pines. Head north on Ice House Road about 30 miles to Loon Lake. Take the Berts Lake Trail one mile to Berts Lake.
